Hi! I’m Bonnie Bhonsle and I’m running for Bryan County Board of Education District 5!
A working mother, education professional, and longtime advocate for children and families, Bonnie brings both real-world leadership experience and hands-on knowledge of public education to the race.
After overcoming significant childhood challenges, including poverty and time spent in foster care, Bonnie understands firsthand the life-changing impact education can have on a child’s future. Her professional background includes management experience in the private sector as well as several years working in public education, where she has served in multiple student and school support roles.
Bonnie is committed to responsible growth, fiscal accountability, supporting educators, and ensuring every child in Bryan County has access to quality educational opportunities. She believes strong schools are built through collaboration, transparency, and community involvement.

MY PRIORITIES

When our students feel supported, our schools are stronger. I will advocate for academic success, mental health resources, and improved accessibility. As a school board member, I will ensure students with autism, ADHD, and other learning or behavioral needs have the resources, support, and opportunities they need to thrive.

Currently, Bryan County teachers make 17-22% less than Georgia teachers statewide. We can’t expect to recruit and retain excellent teachers if our compensation is not competitive with other districts and the cost of living in Bryan County. I will support a fair pay increase so our teachers can have a fulfilling, long-term career in Bryan County.

Our families and taxpayers deserve honesty, openness, and responsible stewardship. I will commit to clear communication, ensuring every dollar is spent wisely to maintain openness and accountability.
